A visual glimpse of Earth's subterranean matter and energy brought to the surface.

Woods, oil on canvas, 90x130 cm, 2013,  Barcelona

Selection of paintings exploring states of mind through the act of introspection and through the painting medium. In this period I discovered my interest in thresholds and in the empty space as a source of infinite possibilities.

These paintings are part of a larger body of work focusing on the concept of alienation.

Alienation refers to something alien to the subject, that the individual no longer controls, a lack of belonging, or a self that becomes separated.

Through observation, dialogue and photographic portraits I explore a variety of feelings that the subjects expressed, such as instability, containment, rejection, detachment, and how it can all be related to a sense of alienation.

I came to the conclusion that the creative act can provide a sense of unity and can help during the process of des-alienation. Also becoming aware of the origins and production chains involved in the food and products we consume, as well as connecting to ourselves and to the near environment through the act of introspection has a therapeutic value.

I find that in my case spending time in Nature is the way of getting the sense of inner unity needed to escape from modern day alienation. This project opened space for further discourse focusing mostly on Nature and how I relate to the natural environment.
