Strata Rota.
porcelain. 2019. Barcelona
Strata rota, is the result of my lack of experience in this traditional and beautiful material which is porcelain. Letting the clay dry too quickly, the piece cracked before firing it. I decided to use it broken because the cracks recall an attraction I have for fixing objects and for recycling. This happy accident helped me shape the gaps in meaning while I was working on it and gave the empty spaces an important roll.
The element of surprise is essential for keeping my interest in the technique or method. For this reason I like switching between mediums in stead of specializing. I am curious if the same signs make their way out, despite the variety of materials, or, if they resonate the same deeper, yet unveiled meaning.

This series of sculptures and the paper installation below are part of my master thesis project.

Umbrales: una aproximación en espiral al proceso creativo parte de un proyecto artístico que gira en torno a la idea de umbral como espacio metafórico. Se refiere tanto a estados de conciencia provenientes de la experiencia como al proceso de creación de la obra de arte. El umbral como concepto es el limite percibido entre el interior y el exterior. En el interior del umbral está el eclipse que vela y desvela los posibles significados. La materialización del proyecto es el centro de la presente investigación. Para ello realizo dos obras que comparten el espacio expositivo. En primer lugar muestro tres esculturas de piedra que iluminadas de manera similar a la instalación forman una secuencia. En segundo lugar presento una instalación de papel con una proyección trasera. Las once capas de papel invitan a mirar a través de los agujeros centrales hasta llegar a la imagen proyectada de un eclipse. El conjunto de la obra me abre posibilidades hacía futuras investigaciones en medios como la instalación, la escultura, el video y la pintura.
